Trump Says He Is Glad Prince Harry and Meghan Left the United States: “I Was Never a Fan”

Donald Trump said he was glad Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had left the United States, adding that he would not have welcomed them back if he had been part of the British royal family.

Trump directed especially sharp criticism at Meghan, calling her “tremendously disrespectful.” He said, “I didn’t like how she acted,” and argued that she had shown serious disrespect toward Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III. Trump also emphasized his “very good” relationship with Elizabeth, who died in 2022, and with Charles, who succeeded her.

“Maybe I’m different. I wouldn’t have welcomed him back, right? If I were the royal family, I wouldn’t have accepted them back,” Trump said, referring to Harry. His comments continued a pattern of criticism aimed at the Sussexes, particularly Meghan. Harry and Meghan returned to the United Kingdom a week earlier for an extended stay with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, six years after their controversial break with the royal household. Their children were reportedly enrolled at a school in Britain. Harry appears to have repaired some of his relationship with his father, who has cancer, during recent visits, but he remains distant from his brother William, the heir to the throne, and William’s wife, Catherine.
