Trump Spoke Directly to Iranian Officials During U.S. Bombardment, Fox Reports

U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly engaged in direct communication with Iranian officials from the White House crisis room during recent U.S. airstrikes against targets in Iran. According to Fox News reporter Trey Yingst, Trump urged Iranian military leaders to accept a U.S. negotiation proposal while the U.S. Central Command (Centcom) was conducting bombing operations.

The airstrikes were launched by the U.S. military as a response to what Washington described as "unjustified and continuous aggressions" by Iran. Centcom did not specify the duration or exact targets of the strikes, but stated they were in retaliation for Iran's alleged actions, including an attack on a U.S. helicopter carrying two crew members.

During the operations, the U.S. military did not receive cooperation from Israeli forces, a departure from previous instances. U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth had warned earlier that the U.S. would "strike with force tonight" against the Islamic Republic.

In response to the U.S. actions, Tehran announced a complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz, threatening to consider any vessels attempting to cross as targets. However, U.S. military officials asserted that passage through the strategic waterway remains active.
