Donald Trump has proposed renaming Lake Ontario on the Canada-U.S. border to "Lake America." The U.S. president announced his idea on his Truth Social media platform, citing the escalating trade war between the United States and Canada.

Lake Ontario borders Canada's Ontario province to the north and New York state to the south, with the international boundary running through the lake. "America is very seriously considering changing the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America because we don't expect to be doing much business with Ontario anymore," Trump wrote.
