Trump to be in Dallas on the same day as King Harald’s funeral

Donald Trump plans to spend both days of a Republican gathering in Dallas while King Harald V is buried in Oslo on Sept. 9. Trump said on Truth Social that he would speak on the event’s first night.

“The biggest rally of them all! I’ll speak the first evening. See you in Dallas,” Trump wrote. The Republican event runs on Sept. 9 and 10, while the funeral at Oslo Cathedral begins at 1 p.m. on Sept. 9.

It remains unclear who will represent the United States at the funeral. The White House has not said whether Trump will attend personally or send Vice President J.D. Vance.

Large crowds have gathered to pay their final respects at King Harald’s coffin in the Palace Chapel. The palace said queues could last as long as four hours and extended viewing hours through the days before the funeral, including openings until 11 p.m. on Sept. 5, 6 and 7.

Police also warned of temporary traffic restrictions on the E6 highway from Sept. 8 to 10, including possible short-term closures of some entrances and exits. Temporary air restrictions will also apply, and authorities urged people to avoid the E6 if possible.
