The White House announced earlier this month that Trump, the oldest U.S. president to assume office, would visit the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. This visit marks his third in 13 months. His first annual physical was in April of the previous year, followed by a check-up in October that included an MRI to rule out cardiovascular issues.

Results from the October check-up indicated Trump was in "excellent health," according to the White House. A spokesperson stated then that all evaluated functions were within normal limits, with no acute or chronic problems. Despite Trump's frequent boasts about his health and vitality, public confidence in his fitness for office has reportedly declined. A recent poll by The Washington Post, ABC News, and Ipsos revealed that 59% of U.S. respondents believe Trump lacks the necessary mental acuity for leadership, a decrease from 47% in September. Regarding his physical health, 55% of surveyed adults felt Trump is not sufficiently fit for the presidency, an increase of 10 percentage points from the previous year. These perceptions contrast with Trump's own assertions of his cognitive abilities, which he reiterated at a rally last Friday.
