Former President Donald Trump has unveiled a temporary replacement for the presidential aircraft, a Boeing 747 gifted by Qatar. This acquisition has sparked considerable political backlash, as the $1 billion conversion cost far exceeds the federal limit for unsolicited gifts. The presidential fleet's current Boeing 747s, in service since 1990, have experienced technical issues, including one forced return to base earlier this year.
