Trump unveils Space Force uniform, prompting comparisons with Nazi attire

Donald Trump has shared an image of a possible new U.S. Space Force uniform, and the design quickly drew comparisons on social media with the uniforms of Nazi SS forces. The image, posted on Trump’s Truth Social account, was generated with artificial intelligence.

The proposed outfit is black and includes a belt, knee-high boots and a cap. Trump’s post said it was inspired by the discipline and functionality of the uniform in the film “Starship Troopers.” Other users also compared its appearance with Darth Vader’s costume in the “Star Wars” series. Many focused instead on what they saw as similarities to Nazi SS attire.

It was not clear whether Trump had presented the final Space Force uniform or only a proposal. Shortly before posting the uniform image, he shared a picture of the moon with the words “the moon is ours” and a small American flag.

The post came as Trump advances a broader expansion of the U.S. space program. At the end of August, he announced the creation of the United States Space Academy to educate and train future professionals in the sector.

Under the executive order he signed, the academy would train not only astronauts but also scientists, engineers, operators, entrepreneurs, public officials and military personnel. Graduates would be required to serve for a period in the armed forces or at NASA.
