Trump unveils White House helipad as building frenzy escalates

US President Donald Trump showcased a newly constructed helipad on the White House's South Lawn, highlighting it as the latest in a series of ambitious construction endeavors during his presidency. Trump, a former real estate developer, appeared energized by the project, leading journalists on a tour of the landing zone.

Trump also confirmed that the initial construction work was redone because the helipad was too sloped. The project involved removing a significant portion of the historic lawn, which has witnessed numerous significant events, including President Richard Nixon's departure after his resignation and the signing of the Oslo Accords.

However, the ballroom project has faced legal hurdles, and its funding, potentially reaching $600 million, has drawn scrutiny, with reports suggesting significant taxpayer money is involved despite claims of private financing.
