Trump: Will demand compensation from Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump has declared his intention to demand compensation from Iran as part of future peace negotiations, directly countering Iran's own demand for war reparations from the United States.

Trump described Iran's request for damages caused by war as an "interesting idea" in a social media post. He stated, "Now I, too, demand compensation from Iran, for all the people they have killed and seriously injured." He specified that this compensation would be for families of those whose lives the Iranian regime is responsible for, directly or indirectly.

As examples, Trump pointed to the 2000 attack on the U.S. warship USS Cole, carried out by the al-Qaeda terror network, and the deaths of "hundreds of thousands of innocent protesters" over the past 50 years, including "52,000 in the last five months." He has instructed his representatives to rigorously include this demand in all future talks.

Iran's negotiation terms reportedly include the lifting of U.S. blockades on Iranian ports, the removal of sanctions, and the release of frozen Iranian assets, in addition to reparations.
