Trường Sa 18 carries 32 stranded Da Nang fishermen back to shore

Thirty-two Da Nang fishermen are heading home aboard the naval vessel Trường Sa 18 after spending several days receiving care on Trường Sa Island.

The fishermen were aboard the QNa 90859-TS, which was carrying 49 people when it encountered difficulties about 35 nautical miles west of An Bang Island in the Trường Sa special administrative area. Rescue forces, working with another fishing boat, brought 32 fishermen to safety on August 28. There was no further information about the others.

The group arrived at Trường Sa the following day aboard the KN-472 and remained on the island while personnel arranged their return. Medical staff examined the fishermen and provided clothing, essential supplies and accommodation. Some injured fishermen were carried onto Trường Sa 18 before departure.

The fishermen were reported to be in stable health and in good spirits when handed over to the vessel. Island personnel also gave them gifts and necessities worth about 10 million Vietnamese dong. Trường Sa 18 is expected to reach Cam Ranh in two to three days, where the fishermen will be reunited with their families.
