Trusting KOL promotions, customer buys fake Nike and Adidas shoes in Nha Trang’s tourist district

A customer who trusted promotions from well-known bloggers and KOLs in Nha Trang bought two pairs of shoes that later turned out to be counterfeit. The purchase involved one Nike pair and one Adidas pair, which the buyer sent to a friend in Russia for inspection.

The customer paid 1.3 million Vietnamese dong in cash after Sport Market, at 3 Trần Quang Khải in central Nha Trang, assured them the shoes were genuine. A specialist in Russia later confirmed that both pairs were fake.

When the buyer contacted the store, it refused to accept the shoes back or issue a refund, citing the lack of an invoice. The customer then reported the store to authorities, saying they did not want more tourists and local residents to be deceived.

The Khánh Hòa Department of Industry and Trade ordered the provincial market surveillance agency to investigate. Market Surveillance Team No. 1 found that Sport Market was selling shoes bearing Nike and Adidas trademarks that showed signs of infringement. Authorities fined the business 50 million dong for selling counterfeit trademarked goods and ordered it to destroy 180 pairs.
