Tryggvi and Frederik heroes as Valur reach third qualifying round

Valur has advanced to the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League after securing a 2-2 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina's Zrinjski Mostar. The Icelandic team, having won the first leg 1-0, progressed with a 3-2 aggregate score.

Tryggvi Hrafn Haraldsson emerged as the hero for Valur, scoring two spectacular goals in quick succession just before halftime. His first came from outside the box in the 44th minute, followed by another impressive strike inside the penalty area a minute later. These goals overturned an early deficit and gave Valur a 2-1 lead in the match and a 3-1 advantage in the tie.

Despite Zrinjski pulling a goal back in the 75th minute through Matej Sakota, Valur's lead was precarious. The Bosnian side had a golden opportunity to equalize and force extra time when they were awarded a penalty in the 88th minute. However, Valur's goalkeeper, Frederik Schram, made a decisive save, denying Nemanja Bilbija from the spot and preserving Valur's lead.

Valur will now face Danish side Nordsjælland in the next round. The match also featured other European ties, including Ilves vs. Stjarnan and Vestri vs. RFS, with Vestri being eliminated.
