TUC Chair, Osifo, Praises DSS For Arrest, Prosecution of Terrorists, Bandits

The Chairman of Nigeria's Trade Union Congress (TUC), Festus Osifo, has publicly commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for its recent successes in apprehending and prosecuting terrorists and bandits. Osifo stated that these decisive actions are sending a strong and clear signal to criminal elements operating across the nation, reinforcing the message that such activities will not be tolerated.

Speaking in Abuja, Osifo emphasized the importance of accountability, noting that when individuals involved in terrorism and banditry are arrested and prosecuted, it serves as a powerful deterrent. He specifically backed the DSS leadership's stance that those responsible for loss of life through their criminal activities should face the death penalty, arguing that such severe punishment is necessary to dissuade others. Osifo urged the DSS to sustain the current tempo of arrests and prosecutions, highlighting the citizens' role in holding the government accountable. He affirmed that while the public condemns government failures, they are equally obligated to commend positive actions. The TUC chairman also lauded the DSS Director-General, Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi, for the ongoing reforms within the service, encouraging him to intensify efforts in combating the pervasive insecurity challenges facing the country.
