Indonesian men's doubles duo Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin have secured their spot in the Taipei Open 2026 final, overcoming Japan's Hiroki Okamura and Kyohei Yamashita in the semifinals. The eighth-seeded pair achieved a decisive victory in straight games, with scores of 21-18 and 21-10, in a match that spanned 34 minutes.

The first game saw Leo and Daniel facing pressure, trailing 14-17 at one point. However, they mounted a comeback, winning four consecutive crucial points to clinch the opening game 21-18. This momentum carried into the second game, where the Indonesian pair dominated, ultimately winning 21-10.

Leo expressed gratitude for reaching the final, acknowledging the difficulty of the match, especially in the first game. "We kept trying to catch up, not giving up just like that," he stated. He explained that he and Daniel focused on reading their opponents' patterns to find exploitable weaknesses, a strategy that successfully turned the match around. "We were looking for the opponents' habits that could be exploited, and it turned out we could turn the tide and win. We were more comfortable playing in the second game," Leo added.

Looking ahead to the final, Leo and Daniel will face Malaysia's emerging pair, Aaron Chia and Aaron Tai. Leo anticipates a challenging match, noting the Malaysian duo's strong individual skills and resilience. "In the final, facing the new Malaysian pair, Aaron Chia/Aaron Tai, we must be wary of their individual skills. Also, they are not easily defeated, so we have to play patiently," Leo commented, emphasizing the need for a composed approach to secure the championship title.
