Tunisia announces new vocational training measures for 2026-2027 season

Tunisia's Agency for Vocational Training (ATFP) is set to implement a series of significant enhancements for the 2026-2027 training year. These measures aim to modernize the vocational training landscape by focusing on infrastructure development, equipment upgrades, and improved student living conditions.

The ATFP has scheduled 25,837 training slots for September and November 2026, covering 259 active specialties. This represents a nearly 9% increase from the September 2025 session. A key change is the adoption of four training sessions per year, expanding from the previous two, to accommodate September and November 2026, followed by February and April 2027.

Six new specialties will be introduced, catering to emerging industry needs. These include training for life coaches, advanced technicians in web and mobile programming, interior design technicians, solar system installation technicians, and specialized roles in baking and pastry. This expansion reflects a commitment to diversifying the training offerings and aligning them with current market demands.

Substantial investments are being made in infrastructure across over 60 training centers. This includes the rehabilitation of more than 80 projects, the creation of 30 new educational spaces, and the modernization of 20 workshops in fields like automotive mechanics, welding, electronics, textiles, and refrigeration. Furthermore, 17 training platforms under the IRADA program and 16 bases for the professional training and insertion support program have been established, alongside 33 newly equipped spaces such as workshops and classrooms. Maintenance interventions have also been carried out in all governorates.

Technological upgrades are a priority, with centers receiving new digital, industrial, and didactic equipment, including laptops, specialized software, internet networks, and machinery for various trades. Student welfare is also being addressed, with plans to renovate and operate over 10 dormitories, adding approximately 1,720 beds, a 10% increase in capacity, and equipping over 10 dining facilities.
