Tunisia: Civil Protection responds to nearly 2,000 incidents in three days

Tunisia's Civil Protection force undertook 1,951 interventions across the country over the weekend of August 7 to 9, 2026. The Ministry of Interior reported these figures on Monday, highlighting the extensive emergency response operations during the period.

Road safety was a major focus, with Civil Protection units conducting 577 rescue and assistance operations specifically related to traffic incidents. This underscores the ongoing challenges of road safety within the country.

Beyond road accidents, the national Civil Protection office also responded to 397 fires, working to control and extinguish blazes. Additionally, 315 rescue operations were carried out for various incidents unrelated to traffic accidents, demonstrating the diverse nature of emergency calls.

The weekend's operations extended to coastal areas as well, with 44 intervention and rescue missions recorded on the beaches. In total, the Civil Protection's efforts spanned the entire nation, addressing a wide array of emergencies from August 7 to August 9.
