Tunisia-France Plastics Mission to Foster Industrial and Tech Partnerships

A collective mission for French plastics and composites companies seeking to expand their activities in Tunisia will take place from October 19 to 22. Organized by the Tunisian-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Ccitf) in partnership with Club CIC International and the Tunisian Association of Plastics Industries (Atip), the mission aims to help participating companies identify local partners, including distributors, clients, manufacturers, and clusters. It also seeks to promote industrial and technological synergies between players in both countries.

The mission has several objectives, including strengthening Franco-Tunisian cooperation in plastic, composite, and recycled materials. It aims to create pathways for joint projects in innovation, research and development (R&D), and the circular economy. Additionally, the initiative will explore investment and local production opportunities within the context of industrial transition. The program includes business-to-business meetings and site visits to Novation City in Sousse, the Plastics Training Center, and production facilities in Sousse and Tunis, allowing French participants to engage directly with key industry operators and understand the Tunisian plastics ecosystem.

This initiative arrives at a favorable time for the sector. Recent official figures indicate a positive investment dynamic. Foreign direct investment (FDI) in the sector increased from 143 million dinars in 2024 to over 202 million dinars in 2025. Exports are also steadily growing, with plastic product exports showing a 15.2% increase in 2025, up from 2.9% the previous year. The Tunisian plastics sector operates within a structured industrial ecosystem heavily focused on exports, positioning itself as a key platform for plastic and polymer transformation integrated into European value chains. The industry encompasses a wide range of activities, from injection and extrusion to thermoforming, assembly, packaging, and technical part manufacturing, with a growing emphasis on innovation, including bioplastics and process digitalization.
