Tunisian peacekeepers in Bangui share message of hope and prevention with students

The Tunisian air transport unit stationed in Bangui, Central African Republic, marked the United Nations International Day of Peacekeepers with a meaningful educational and social outreach program. The initiative, praised by officials from the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), aimed to inspire and inform local students.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense, pilots and medical personnel from the unit visited the Miskini Institute in Bangui. The unit's commander delivered an encouraging message to the students, emphasizing that "education and the pursuit of knowledge allow one to overcome difficulties and open up future prospects." Medical staff conducted awareness sessions on preventing sexually transmitted infections, malaria, and Ebola, while also highlighting the benefits of sports and the dangers of drug and alcohol consumption.

The event also featured the distribution of aid to students and the presentation of a symbolic gift to the institute. Young attendees had the unique opportunity to tour an airport and see a Tunisian Air Force aircraft up close for the first time, interacting with pilots about their roles within the UN peacekeeping operation.

The day concluded with a football tournament organized for the students, followed by an award ceremony for the winning team. This multifaceted event served to strengthen ties between the Tunisian peacekeepers and the local community, offering a message of hope and practical guidance.
