Tunji-Ojo meets Assembly Speakers, seeks stronger Federal-State ties

Nigeria's Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has pledged to foster stronger institutional relationships with sub-national legislatures, recognizing them as crucial partners in governance. This commitment was made during a meeting with the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria at the Ministry's headquarters in Abuja.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo commended the Speakers for their proactive approach to partnership and nation-building. The Minister assured the delegation that their requests and proposed collaborations would be carefully considered within the existing policy framework and national priorities.

He reiterated the Ministry's dedication to implementing people-centered reforms aimed at bolstering national security, improving border management, and reinforcing the integrity of Nigeria's internal governance systems. The Minister highlighted the government's resolve to continue these reforms, aligning with national objectives.

Representing the delegation, the Chairman of the Conference and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, congratulated Dr. Tunji-Ojo on his leadership and reform initiatives. Guwor emphasized the critical role of the State Houses of Assembly, as the closest representatives to the grassroots, in supporting policies and reforms that directly impact citizens. He affirmed the readiness of the State Assemblies to provide legislative backing for the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Agenda, underscoring the importance of a united front in advancing national development.
