Turaki-led PDP Pacifies Aspirants over Lack of Access to INEC Code, Says Faction Still in Court

A faction of Nigeria's Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), operating under an interim National Working Committee (NWC) led by Tanimu Turaki, has called for calm among party aspirants who were unable to access Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) codes for nomination uploads. The faction stated that the issue is currently under judicial review.

The Turaki-led group is advising aspirants against pursuing legal action against the interim NWC, reminding them of the PDP's past experience in Plateau State. In that instance, the Court of Appeal nullified the election of several National Assembly and state assembly members, deeming their party's structure insufficient.

However, some party members who purchased nomination forms from the Turaki faction are expressing strong dissatisfaction. These "Concerned PDP Aspirants" accuse the interim NWC of fraudulent conduct, alleging they were knowingly sold forms by a group not recognized as the legitimate PDP. They claim to have spent "hundreds of millions of Naira" on forms, publicity, and logistics.

They should bear in mind the recent situation in Plateau State in a similar matter concerning our party. This matter is still in court. It is a pre-election matter.

INEC had previously issued access codes to the PDP faction led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, implying that candidates registered with this group are the officially recognized ones. The spokesperson for the Turaki-led PDP NWC, Ini Emeombong, reiterated that the matter is still in court and expressed confidence in a favorable legal outcome, urging aspirants to be patient and noting that INEC is aware of the ongoing legal processes.
