Turkey extends residence rights for international graduates

Turkey is offering international graduates a pathway to extend their stay by providing an additional year on their short-term residence permits, provided they meet specific requirements. This new regulation, announced by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), allows eligible graduates to apply for a renewed one-year permit after their initial year-long permit expires.

The extension is accessible to international students who apply within six months of their graduation date. The initiative is designed to encourage graduates to continue their postgraduate studies, pursue academic research, and find employment opportunities that match their skill sets within Turkey.
