Turkey Forms Board to Oversee National Solidarity Law, Discusses PKK Disarmament

Turkey has launched its first "Follow-up and Evaluation Board" under the "National Solidarity and Social Cohesion Strengthening Law," a piece of legislation known as the 'framework law.' The board convened its inaugural meeting today, chaired by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, at the Presidential Complex.

The meeting focused on coordinating the process and resulted in the decision to establish four distinct sub-commissions. The board's composition includes the Minister of Justice, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Interior, Minister of National Defense, the Presidential Secretary General, the Head of the National Intelligence Organization, and the Secretary General of the National Security Council.

The historic process, carried out with the vision of completely ridding our country and region of terrorism, the complete removal of violence and weapons from the agenda, and the rooting of an atmosphere of brotherhood, has reached an important threshold with the acceptance of Law No. 7595... by the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

Officials stated the initiative is driven by a vision to completely rid the country and region of terrorism, eliminate violence and weapons, and solidify an atmosphere of brotherhood. The law, enacted on August 18, 2026, is considered a cornerstone of "Turkey's Century" vision, aiming to enhance domestic peace and social integration while transforming the region into a zone of peace, prosperity, and security.

The four sub-commissions created are: Judicial and Legal Affairs Coordination, Monitoring and Determination, Social Harmony and Integration, and Disarmament and Strategic Coordination. The government has pledged to resolutely implement these steps with full coordination among all state institutions to strengthen social cohesion.
