Israel threatens Gaza expulsion over kites

Israel has threatened to launch intensive attacks and forcibly displace residents from Gaza if kites flown from the territory continue to land in Israeli settlements. The warning was issued following a meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and top military officials.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, the situation was assessed with the Chief of Staff and other high-ranking military commanders. The discussion focused on the threat posed by kites, unmanned aerial vehicles, and balloons launched from the Gaza Strip that have landed in Israeli communities.

Reports in the Israeli press indicated that children flying kites in Gaza caused unease among Israelis in the border areas when the kites landed in settlements. However, the Israeli military initially stated that there was nothing suspicious about the kites themselves. Despite this, Defense Minister Yisrael Katz instructed the army to take strong action regarding the matter.

The threat implies that if the kite-flying incidents are not stopped, Israel will carry out significant attacks on the launch areas and expel the inhabitants.
