Turkey: Gradual retirement plans emerge for workers insured after 1999

Millions of Turkish workers who began their social security contributions after September 8, 1999, are keenly awaiting details on a proposed gradual retirement system. The recent EYT (Emeklilikte Yaşa Takılanlar - Those Trapped by Retirement Age) law, which lowered the retirement age for many, inadvertently left this segment of the workforce in a difficult position. They argue that a fair, tiered system is needed to address the disparity.
