Turkey issues heavy rainfall warning for 31 provinces

Turkey's Interior Ministry has alerted citizens to the possibility of severe weather, issuing a strong rain warning for 31 provinces today and tomorrow. The General Directorate of Meteorology forecasts localized heavy downpours and thunderstorms across a wide swathe of the country.

Today, the warning specifically targets the provinces of Edirne and Kırklareli, as well as the inland and southern parts of Tekirdağ. Tomorrow, the forecast extends to regions including Çanakkale and Afyonkarahisar, along with Kütahya, Uşak, Denizli, eastern Manisa, inland İzmir, and eastern Aydın.

Further extending into tomorrow, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are also anticipated in Ankara, Çankırı, Yozgat, Kırıkkale, Sivas, Kırşehir, Niğde, Aksaray, Nevşehir, Konya, eastern Eskişehir, Karaman, southern Çorum, and Tokat. The ministry also noted that Isparta, Burdur, and inland Antalya could experience heavy showers, with northern Mersin, Adana, and Osmaniye potentially affected after midday.

In light of these predictions, the Interior Ministry has strongly advised citizens to exercise caution and take necessary precautions. They are urged to be prepared for potential hazards such as floods, flash floods, landslides, lightning strikes, localized hail, strong winds during rainfall, and possible disruptions to transportation.
