Turkey Ready to Strengthen Muslim Nations

Turkey is actively enhancing its international standing, demonstrating significant diplomatic capabilities in conflict resolution and humanitarian efforts. The nation's negotiation prowess is recognized across various global arenas, from de-escalating tensions in the Middle East to facilitating the release of individuals detained during humanitarian missions.

The main goal of the Global Sumud Flotilla participants was to bring attention to the plight of the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza, which has been bombed for almost two years. More than 50,000 people have lost their lives. Gaza is also blockaded, causing people to lack food, medicine, and clean water.

Ambassador Prof. Talip Küçükcan of Turkey to Indonesia recently granted an interview to Republika at the Turkish Embassy in Jakarta. He discussed Turkey's expanding global role, particularly highlighting the country's crucial involvement in the release of activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla who were detained by Israel. The ambassador expressed gratitude for the activists' bravery in raising awareness about the suffering of the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza, which has faced prolonged bombardment and blockade.

Küçükcan detailed Turkey's diplomatic strategy, emphasizing that despite the absence of formal diplomatic or trade relations with Israel, Turkey utilized various channels, including its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, government officials, and intelligence agencies, to negotiate the activists' release. This action underscores Turkey's commitment to protecting individuals undertaking humanitarian missions and advocating for Palestinian interests, including aid delivery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.

Turkey played an important role because we are a country in the region. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, government officials, and intelligence agencies made various communication and negotiation efforts with the Israeli side through several channels.

The ambassador also drew parallels with Turkey's extensive experience in repatriating citizens during crises, citing the Arab Spring and a past prisoner exchange involving Russia and European nations. He stressed the importance of meticulous and effective diplomacy in achieving these outcomes, positioning Turkey as a key player in international humanitarian and diplomatic initiatives.
