Turkey's fiber internet reaches 10 million users, 2 million new subscribers in one year

Turkey's fiber internet adoption continues its rapid expansion, with subscriber numbers exceeding 10 million in the first quarter of 2026. This figure represents a notable jump from 8.3 million subscribers recorded in the same period of the previous year, according to the Information and Communication Technologies Authority's (BTK) market data report.

The 'fiber to the home' segment saw particularly strong growth, increasing by 29% to reach 9.1 million subscribers. This surge indicates a growing preference for direct fiber connections within residences. Conversely, 'fiber to the building' connections experienced a slight decline, falling from 1.2 million to 1.1 million subscribers during the same timeframe.

This increased demand for fiber services has also driven a significant expansion in the country's fiber optic infrastructure. The total length of fiber optic cables across Turkey grew from 617,765 kilometers at the end of the first quarter of 2025 to 696,606 kilometers by the end of the first quarter of 2026.

Beyond fiber, mobile broadband also saw growth, with the number of mobile internet subscribers increasing by 4% year-on-year, reaching nearly 77.5 million in early 2026. Cable internet, however, showed more modest gains, with its subscriber base growing slightly to just over 1.5 million.
