Turkey's 'Turkey Without Terrorism' Bill Opens for Signatures in Parliament

Turkey's ruling AK Party has introduced a draft framework law, referred to as "A Turkey Without Terrorism," to parliament. The bill is expected to be submitted to the Grand National Assembly and then quickly reviewed by the Justice Commission.

Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş held extensive discussions on the draft with AK Party officials, including Deputy Chairman Efkan Âlâ, Group Chairman Abdullah Güler, and Spokesperson Ömer Çelik. Representatives from the DEM Party's İmralı delegation, Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar, also participated in some of these meetings.

Sources indicate that broad consensus has been reached on the draft, with efforts to secure signatures from parties with parliamentary groups. AK Party Group Chairman Güler met with leaders from the New Party, CHP, and New Road groups. While most groups have shown a positive approach, some parties are hesitant to sign due to "certain objections and concerns."

AK Party lawmakers are expected to sign the bill by the evening. If a joint signature from all groups is not achieved, the proposal may be submitted with signatures from the AK Party and MHP groups alone. The draft law's title has been finalized as "Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Cohesion."
