Turkey's women's volleyball team lifts the European Championship trophy

Turkey's women's national volleyball team finally lifted the trophy after defeating Italy 3-2 in the 2026 CEV European Championship final at Istanbul's Sinan Erdem Sports Hall.

The victory delivered Turkey's second consecutive European Championship title and the gold medal. A trophy ceremony followed the final, with Youth and Sports Minister Osman Aşkın Bak, European Volleyball Confederation President Roko Sikiric and Turkish Volleyball Federation President Mehmet Akif Üstündağ among those present.

Roko Sikiric presented the trophy to Turkey. Italy received the silver medals and Serbia the bronze medals after finishing second and third respectively.

Turkey's Melissa Vargas was named the tournament's most valuable player. The opposite hitter played in the final against Italy and was recognized for the performances that helped Turkey win the championship. Vargas also won the MVP award after Turkey's 2023 title.

Vargas, Derya Cebecioğlu, Zehra Güneş and Gizem Örge were selected for the dream team, alongside Italy's Alessia Orro and Myriam Sylla and Serbia's Hena Kurtagic. Turkey's title-winning coach, Daniele Santarelli, was named the dream team's head coach.
