Turkish Aerospace Sees Big Opportunities for Indonesia in Global Aviation Industry

Indonesia's aerospace sector possesses substantial potential to solidify its standing within the global supply chain, driven by escalating worldwide demand for aircraft and their components. Key advantages include available industrial resources, a strategic Southeast Asian location, and growing manufacturing capabilities.

Adi Aviantoro, Managing Director of PT Turkish Aerospace Indonesia (TAID), believes Indonesia can become a significant player in the global aerospace ecosystem. He emphasizes the need for strengthened collaboration among domestic industries, government, academia, and businesses. "We want to bring all stakeholders together on one collaboration platform to strengthen the national aerospace ecosystem, enhance industrial capabilities, and open more opportunities for Indonesian companies to participate in the global supply chain," Adi stated at the Indonesia Aerospace Ecosystem Forum (IAEF) 2026 in Bandung.

The evolving global aerospace landscape presents opportunities for developing countries to assume greater roles. Rising production needs, global supply chain restructuring, and technological progress are factors Indonesia can leverage. This potential is a primary reason Turkish Aerospace (TUSAŞ) selected Indonesia as a strategic base in Southeast Asia, establishing PT Turkish Aerospace Indonesia in 2022 to support global engineering services.

Emrah Ekri, Industrialization Operations Manager at Turkish Aerospace (TUSAŞ), highlighted Indonesia's competitive advantages, including its cost-effective resources, expanding manufacturing base, and strategic location. "With the development of a strong and sustainable ecosystem, Indonesia has a great opportunity to play a more significant role in the global aerospace supply chain," Emrah commented. He added that strengthening the national industry requires broader involvement from domestic companies skilled in machining, special processes, engineering services, and other supporting manufacturing functions.
