Turkish Men's Volleyball Team Reaches Historic 9th Place in World Rankings

The Turkish Men's National Volleyball Team has achieved a historic milestone by entering the top 10 of the FIVB world rankings for the first time, reaching the 9th position.

This achievement follows their strong performance in the second stage of the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL) held in Poland. The team secured a 4-3 record, placing them 7th overall in the VNL standings. In Gliwice, they competed against China, Poland, Argentina, and Belgium. Turkey defeated China 3-0, lost to reigning champions Poland 3-2, came back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Argentina 3-2, and closed the stage with a 3-0 victory over Belgium.

With 5 wins and 3 losses after the second VNL stage, the team's current ranking propels them into elite company. The VNL finals will feature the top 8 teams, with the host nation potentially securing a spot regardless of ranking. If China does not place within the top 8, the 7th-ranked team will advance, while the 8th-ranked team will be eliminated.

The Turkish team's next challenge is the third and final stage of the VNL, scheduled for July 15-19 in Belgrade, Serbia. There, they will face formidable opponents: Serbia, Ukraine, Slovenia, and Iran.
