Turkish Navy ship TCG Karşıyaka to visit Karşıyaka for Victory Day

The district of Karşıyaka will host a historic event as the Turkish Navy's Tuzla-class patrol vessel, TCG Karşıyaka, makes its inaugural visit on August 30, coinciding with Victory Day celebrations. Organized in collaboration with the Karşıyaka Municipality and the Karşıyaka Veterans Association, the ship will dock at Bostanlı Ferry Pier.

From 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the public will have the opportunity to board and tour the TCG Karşıyaka. The event aims to foster a sense of national pride and shared celebration among residents of all ages. The ship's visit is expected to enhance the festive atmosphere of Victory Day, a significant national holiday commemorating the Turkish Armed Forces' ultimate victory in the War of Independence.

In addition to the ship visit, the Karşıyaka Municipality is organizing a torchlight procession for the evening of August 30. Participants will gather at 7:45 p.m. in front of the municipality's main service building and march through the city center towards Hergele Square. The procession, accompanied by the Karşıyaka Municipal Band, aims to transform Karşıyaka's main street into a 'poppy field' of Turkish flags.

Karşıyaka Mayor Yıldız Ünsal expressed enthusiasm for the events, stating, "The arrival of the Karşıyaka Ship in our district will further amplify our holiday joy." She extended an invitation to all residents, "from 7 to 77," to visit the special ship and share the pride of August 30 during the torchlight procession. Ünsal also paid tribute to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and all heroes who gifted the nation this victory.
