Turkish Party Spokesperson Denies Reports of Group Chairman Change

A spokesperson for the 'absolute nullity' administration has refuted claims that Faik Öztrak has been appointed as the group chairman, replacing Özgür Özel. Müslim Sarı, a spokesperson for the faction, stated that reports circulating in some media outlets are untrue.

Sarı clarified that the CHP General Headquarters has not sent any correspondence to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) to this effect. He emphasized that the news suggesting Özgür Özel's replacement by Tekirdağ Deputy Faik Öztrak as Group Chairman is inaccurate and that the party headquarters has made no such decision.

The spokesperson urged media outlets to exercise greater diligence and verify information with authorized party officials before publishing. The denial comes amid internal political maneuvering within the Republican People's Party (CHP), following a controversial leadership change.

Previously, the 'absolute nullity' administration, which reportedly appointed Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu as CHP Chairman, was alleged to have applied to the TBMM Speaker's Office to strip Özgür Özel, the elected CHP Chairman, of his parliamentary group chairmanship. Reports suggested that Faik Öztrak was to be named in his place.
