Turkish Women's National Football Team beats Malta 3-0, secures playoff spot

The Turkish Women's National Football Team concluded their 2027 FIFA World Cup European Qualifiers campaign with a decisive 3-0 victory over Malta. Playing their sixth and final match in Group B, the Turkish team secured the win at the MFA Centenary Stadium. The scoring opened early in the 7th minute with an own goal from Malta's Alexandra Gatt, giving Turkey a 1-0 lead.

Turkey extended their advantage in the 38th minute when Ece Türkoğlu found the back of the net, doubling the lead to 2-0 before halftime. The team continued their dominant performance in the second half. Selen Gül Altunkulak added a third goal in the 52nd minute, sealing the 3-0 scoreline. No further goals were scored in the remainder of the match.

With this victory, the Turkish team finished second in their group, accumulating 13 points. This achievement had already secured their place in the playoffs prior to the final match. The draw for the first round of the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup European Qualifiers playoffs is scheduled for June 18 in Nyon, Switzerland. The playoff matches, played on a two-leg basis, will take place between October 5 and 13. Teams that advance from this round will proceed to the second playoff stage.
