Türkiye rallies past Brazil for second Women's VNL title

Türkiye clinched its second Women's Volleyball Nations League title on Sunday, staging a comeback to defeat Brazil 3-1 in the final match. Melissa Teresa Vargas was the driving force behind Türkiye's victory, delivering a match-high 33 points and earning the tournament's Most Valuable Player award.

The match began with a closely contested opening set, which Brazil narrowly won 25-23. Türkiye responded strongly in the second set, leveling the match with another 25-23 victory, largely powered by Vargas's aggressive offense. The third set remained tight, with both teams reaching a 24-24 tie before Türkiye secured the final two points to take a commanding lead.

Türkiye sealed the championship in the fourth set, winning 25-21. Their strong blocking and Vargas's powerful hitting proved decisive in securing the title. Earlier in the day, Italy defeated host China 3-1 to claim the third-place medal.

China captain Gong Xiangyu acknowledged her team's effort but admitted there were areas for improvement. "Although we really wanted to win, both the process and the result showed that we still have gaps to bridge before becoming a strong team, not only in terms of skills and tactics, but also in mentality," Gong stated. She emphasized the need to "focus on the details" to bridge these gaps.
