Two Argentinians missing after Colombia earthquake found alive

Carlos Luis Cáceres and Carlos Alberto Ricchetti, two Argentinians residing in Colombia, have been found safe after being reported missing following a powerful magnitude 7.4 earthquake.

Cáceres, from San Juan, was located in Pereira, one of the most damaged areas in the Risaralda department. His daughter, Carla, confirmed he was alive but had sustained some injuries. She recounted that her father had to crawl out of his second-floor apartment when the tremors began, as there was no warning. He was reportedly in shock but able to move, despite some blows to his legs and back. "Hija, Pereira desapareció," he told his daughter, conveying the devastation he witnessed.

Ricchetti, from Buenos Aires, had been living in Colombia for 24 years and works as a journalist. His sister, Roxana, reported losing contact with him and his partner on Sunday night. She expressed immense relief and anxiety after receiving confirmation that they were together and unharmed. "I hope everyone has the luck I had. It's very difficult, a terrible anguish. We were desperate," she told TN.

The earthquake left a significant toll, with at least 240 deaths, 1300 injuries, and 2000 people missing. The successful recovery of Cáceres and Ricchetti offers a glimmer of hope amidst the widespread destruction.
