Two arrested after nightclub shooting in San José, Uruguay

Two men, aged 20 and 28, were arrested by police in San José, Uruguay, after allegedly shooting a 19-year-old man inside a local nightclub early Sunday morning. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday in a venue located near Parque Rodó in San José de Mayo.

Following the shooting, the assailants fled the scene in a taxi. However, police quickly apprehended them at the intersection of Artigas and Av. Manuel D Rodríguez streets. During the arrest, officers confiscated a firearm from the suspects. Both individuals have previous criminal records.

The victim was transported to a local health center, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his left leg. Medical authorities have stated that the injury is not life-threatening. The police and the Prosecutor's Office are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

In a separate incident in Maldonado, a 32-year-old man was sentenced to two years and ten months in prison for stabbing another driver after a traffic dispute. Police found cocaine, a precision scale, and bladed weapons in the convicted man's vehicle.
