Two Arrested, Drugs Seized in Essaouira Drug Bust

Moroccan authorities have apprehended two individuals suspected of involvement in drug trafficking and the distribution of psychotropic substances. The arrests were made by the judicial police in Marrakech, in collaboration with the Directorate General for Territorial Surveillance.

The operation led to the detention of a 23-year-old woman upon her arrival in Essaouira by bus. A search of her belongings revealed 3,690 ecstasy pills, 11 kilograms of hashish, and 120 grams of cocaine. Following this arrest, investigations identified a second suspect believed to be complicit in the criminal activity. This individual was subsequently arrested in Essaouira, and a sum of money, believed to be proceeds from the illicit trade, was recovered.

Both suspects, aged 23 and 41, are now undergoing a judicial investigation supervised by the public prosecutor's office. The investigation aims to uncover all circumstances surrounding the case, identify any additional accomplices, and trace the potential reach of this criminal network within the region.
