Two Cars Engulfed in Flames in Oradea Parking Lot; Investigation Launched

A fire in a parking lot in Oradea, Romania, on Sunday morning destroyed two cars and damaged two others, causing panic among residents. The blaze erupted around 4:10 AM in a parking area on Corneliu Coposu Street, with flames reportedly reaching the first floor of a nearby building.

Firefighters from Oradea's Detachment 2 responded swiftly with two fire engines. They managed to contain and extinguish the fire within approximately 15 minutes, preventing it from spreading to four other vehicles parked nearby. According to Camelia Roșca, spokesperson for the Crișana Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU), the two cars where the fire originated were damaged by about 90%, while two others sustained damage of 60% and 30% respectively.

Adding to the suspicion of deliberate action, several witnesses reported seeing three young individuals fleeing the parking lot around the time the fire started. While authorities have not confirmed this hypothesis, the police have opened a criminal investigation. Working alongside ISU specialists, they are seeking to determine the exact cause of the fire. No injuries were reported, but the material damage is significant.
