Two Chinese Nationals Arrested in South Korea for Stealing 50 Million Won from Investment Scam Courier

Police in Boryeong, South Korea, have arrested two Chinese nationals on charges of special robbery after they allegedly stole a bag containing 50 million won (approximately $37,000 USD). The money had been collected by a courier working for an investment scam, known locally as a "reading room" scam. The courier, identified only as Mr. A, reported the theft after the two suspects, identified as Mr. B and Mr. C, allegedly snatched the bag from him on November 1. Authorities apprehended the suspects within three hours of the report, near the border of Boryeong and Cheongyang. The suspects, who have been in South Korea for an extended period and are legally residing there, are reportedly refusing to cooperate with investigators. Police are pursuing leads to identify and apprehend individuals higher up in the scam's hierarchy. Separately, the courier, Mr. A, was found to be wanted on other charges and has been taken into custody pending their resolution.
