Two Cyclists Killed in Road Accidents on Monday

Two cyclists lost their lives in separate traffic accidents on Monday in Latvia, one in Ogre and another in the Ķekava municipality. State Police confirmed the fatalities.

The first incident occurred in Ogre at 3:01 PM on Daugavpils Street, involving a collision between a "VW Passat" car and a cyclist. The cyclist sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Police are currently investigating the precise circumstances of this accident.

Later, at 6:09 PM in Daugmale, Ķekava municipality, a cyclist fell for reasons yet to be determined. This individual also succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Authorities are working to establish the cause of this second fatal accident.

In total, 142 traffic accidents were registered across the country in the past 24 hours, resulting in 11 injuries and these two fatalities. The police also reported 375 administrative offense decisions, including 100 for speeding and one for aggressive driving. Additionally, two administrative and four criminal proceedings were initiated for driving under the influence of alcohol.
