Two dead in Vilnius BMW crash; driver allegedly intoxicated, faced family issues

A fatal car accident occurred on Žirmūnai Street in Vilnius over the weekend, claiming the lives of two young individuals. The incident happened early on July 4th, with the initial report to the General Assistance Center received at 4:17 AM.

Authorities suspect a 19-year-old female driver was behind the wheel of the BMW involved in the crash. Preliminary tests indicated she had a blood alcohol content of 0.58 permille. The victims were identified as a young woman born in 2007 and a young man born in 2005. Reports indicate that one of the deceased was a well-known athlete.

Adding to the tragedy, a video has reportedly surfaced online, allegedly filmed about half an hour before the fatal collision. The circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation.

Further details reveal that the 19-year-old driver, who allegedly caused the accident, grew up in difficult circumstances. Sources indicate that child welfare specialists had to intervene multiple times due to suspected domestic violence within her family.
