Two Detained in Elazığ for Insulting Social Media Posts

Authorities in Elazığ, Turkey, have apprehended two individuals accused of disseminating offensive content on social media. The suspects allegedly shared videos containing insults, mockery, and derogatory remarks directed at martyrs and their families via the X platform, formerly known as Twitter.

Governor Numan Hatipoğlu announced that the posts, which were identified as targeting martyrs and their relatives with humiliating and mocking language, were shared on June 17. The provincial police department conducted an investigation that led to the identification and apprehension of the two suspects.

Legal action has been initiated against both individuals under the charge of "inciting hatred and public humiliation." Governor Hatipoğlu affirmed the commitment of security forces to ensuring public peace and safety, stating their persistent and determined efforts in this regard.
