Two die, two hospitalised after consuming drug in Ogun

Two people have died and two others have been hospitalized in Ogun State following the alleged consumption of a substance believed to be "laughing gas." The incident occurred on Tuesday in Isara Remo and involved four individuals, reportedly students of the Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade.

The incident actually happened on Tuesday. What we learnt was that the students were taking what they called laughing gas. Two of the students died as a result of taking the hard drugs while two others were hospitalised.

A local resident, speaking anonymously, confirmed the incident, stating that the students were taking what they called "laughing gas." The resident added that two students died as a result, while the other two required hospitalization. The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed it is investigating a suspected drug-related case in the area.

DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Public Relations Officer for the Ogun State Police Command, stated that the police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths and hospitalizations. He noted that the deceased have been deposited for autopsy, and the survivors are receiving medical treatment. Babaseyi cautioned the public against drug abuse and the use of illicit substances, emphasizing that the investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident.

The Ogun State Police Command is investigating a suspected drug-related incident at Oke-Ola Phase II, Isara-Remo, where two persons were found dead and two others were hospitalised after allegedly consuming hard drugs.

Efforts to reach the management of Gateway ICT Polytechnic for comment were unsuccessful. Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, is a medical anesthetic that can be dangerous or fatal when misused recreationally.
