Two drivers seriously injured in B38 highway crash

Two drivers were seriously injured in a head-on collision on the Bundesstraße 38 in the Rhein-Neckar district near Weinheim. The accident occurred when one of the vehicles inexplicably veered off the roadway and collided with a guardrail.

According to the fire department, the car slid under the guardrail, resulting in its front left tire being completely torn off. The guardrail itself sustained considerable damage over a length of approximately 30 to 40 meters. The second car involved in the incident came to a stop about 250 meters away, exhibiting severe damage to its driver's side.

The exact circumstances leading to the accident remain unclear. Bystanders provided first aid to both drivers until emergency medical services arrived. A rescue helicopter was deployed to the scene.

Firefighters secured the accident site, disconnected the vehicle batteries, and cleared debris from the roadway. After one of the vehicles was towed away, the road was reopened. Police are investigating the cause of the accident and assessing the extent of the damage.
