Two Drones Spotted Over Military Base in Germany

German authorities are investigating the appearance of two drones over a military base in Mechernich, near Bonn, in western Germany. The sighting occurred just days after a drone laden with explosives was discovered on the tarmac of Leipzig/Halle Airport, a facility used by NATO and the German military. The military confirmed that drones were observed on Thursday evening over the base, which reportedly houses components for U.S. Patriot air defense systems.

Military police were deployed to the site before the case was handed over to local law enforcement. German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrint expressed concern, stating that Germany has become a "regular target of destabilizing attacks." He added, "We are not at war, but we are a daily target of hybrid warfare."

The incident at Leipzig/Halle Airport, which also serves as a base for the Ukrainian airline Antonov, is under scrutiny to determine how an explosive-laden drone could reach the runway.
