Two elderly people found unconscious after suspected hazardous materials leak in Jerusalem

Firefighters and paramedics responded to a suspected hazardous materials leak in a Jerusalem apartment on Thursday, finding two elderly residents unconscious. The individuals, aged in their 70s and 80s, were discovered lying on the floor of their fourth-floor apartment on Moshe Dayan Boulevard in Pisgat Ze'ev. Both were breathing but in serious condition.

Emergency medical teams from Magen David Adom provided immediate treatment at the scene. One of the individuals was sedated and ventilated before being evacuated to Hadassah-University Medical Center on Mount Scopus. The other was taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center. Firefighters conducted searches within the apartment to determine the nature of the hazardous materials involved.

The exact cause and circumstances of the suspected leak were not immediately known as the investigation continued. The incident prompted a response from the HaUmah fire station and involved Jerusalem District Police.
