Two from Ruma Arrested for Murder of Man from Stara Pazova

Serbian police have arrested two individuals from Ruma, identified as P.J. (44) and P.J. (19), on suspicion of committing aggravated murder. The victim, A.L. (40) from Stara Pazova, allegedly died from injuries sustained during a physical assault.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the arrests followed a report of a missing person. Investigations revealed that in the first half of April, the suspects allegedly subjected the victim to severe physical abuse in a rented apartment in Ruma. The victim reportedly succumbed to his injuries as a result of this assault.

To conceal the crime, the suspects are accused of moving the victim's body to a family house they occasionally use. Several days later, they allegedly buried the body in the yard of the property.

Law enforcement officials, along with a prosecutor from the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Sremska Mitrovica, conducted an on-site investigation. During the examination, a decomposing body was discovered buried in the yard. The body has been transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Novi Sad for an autopsy, as ordered by the prosecutor.

The two suspects have been detained for up to 48 hours. Following this period, they will be brought before the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Sremska Mitrovica along with a criminal complaint.
