Two Homes Burglarized in Upscale Asunción Neighborhood

Two residential burglaries, believed to be the work of a single professional gang, have been reported in the upscale Los Laureles neighborhood of Asunción, Paraguay. The incidents occurred over the weekend, with perpetrators managing to bypass security measures undetected.

The first burglary took place on Saturday afternoon at a residence on Lamas Carísimo street. The thieves forced open the gate and stole two 12-gauge shotguns and a 9mm pistol. Crucially, they also removed the closed-circuit television (CCTV) memory unit, hindering the police investigation.

Approximately an hour later, a second home on R. Díaz de Melgarejo street was targeted. The owner, who was not present at the time, was alerted by a neighborhood watchman about the forced gate. Upon returning, she discovered that a gold chain had been stolen, while other valuables were left behind.

Investigators have noted the identical modus operandi in both cases: forced entry through the gate, theft of items easily convertible to cash on the black market, and the disabling of surveillance systems. This suggests a conscious and premeditated effort by the perpetrators, who police currently do not suspect to be drug addicts.
