Two Injured Remain Hospitalized After Deadly Clash in Indonesia

Two people injured during a violent clash in Adonara Timur, Flores Timur, Indonesia, are still receiving medical treatment. The conflict, which erupted on Saturday morning, July 18, between two youth groups from the villages of Narasasosina and Waiburak, resulted in three fatalities and seven injuries.

Of the seven injured, four were initially referred to Larantuka Regional General Hospital, with two subsequently evacuated to Lewoleba, Lembata, for further care. Currently, Purnama (19) is being treated at RSUD Lewoleba and Anwar Sabon at RSUD Larantuka; both are reported to be in stable condition. Three other injured individuals received treatment at Adonara Pratama Hospital and were discharged.

The three deceased victims have been buried by their families. Nayamudin Iskandar (21) and Petrus Kopong Epit were buried on Saturday, July 18, while the body of Hope (60) was interred on Sunday morning, July 19.

To bolster security in the affected area, Flores Timur Police have deployed an additional 34 personnel from the Brimob unit in Maumere. Furthermore, 100 personnel from the NTT Regional Police, including riot police and bomb disposal units, have been dispatched. Police report that the security situation in the area is now stable.

The injured victims who were still being treated, out of the previous four, now there are only two left. Two of them have been allowed to go home by the hospital, one is being treated in Lewoleba, Lembata, and the other is at RSUD Larantuka.
